Advertising is the most popular way to drive sales. Advertisers manipulate us and pull the wool over our eyes. Not everything these advertisers show us is true. They sometimes mislead us and make us believe those myths. Advertisers try to put a gloss on reality and sometimes cover up these myths so that a buyer looks at the product and want to buy them.
So here are a few myths that people tend to believe just because they showed in the advertisement!
1.You need to give a diamond ring while proposing.
Reality: It depends on you and your choices. At the end feelings matter and not the product.
Myth: There was an ad campaign “A diamond is forever”. It’s included in every marketing textbook. So after 1947, the simple carbon was considered not just an elite gift but also an indispensable attribute of a proposal and people still believe it.
2.Toothpaste should be spread all over the bristles of the toothbrush
Truth: A pea-sized amount of toothpaste is more than enough.
Myth: You must have noticed that every ad shows a long strip of toothpaste on the brush. This looks fascinating and makes people buy toothpaste more often.
3.Citrus fruits have more Vitamin C than any other food.
Truth: Bell peppers have 250 mg/100 g, fresh rose hips have 650 mg/100 g, black currants have 200 mg/100 g amount of Vitamin C in them.

4.Sweet Soda and Beer can quench your thirst.
Truth: Drinks containing sugar and alcohol actually cause thirst.
Myth: They lie just to increase their sales. Only water can quench your thirst.
5.There are some painkillers only for females.
Truth: There are complex medicines that simultaneously possess analgesic, antispasmodic, and anti-inflammatory properties.
Myth: Period pain and cramps are a regular thing a woman go through every month. Medicines such as drotaverine, dipyrone, and paracetamol are cheap, so they sell them with different packaging.
6.Dysbiosis is a disease
Truth: In reality, there is no such disease.
Myth: He use of the term “dysbiosis” in Eastern Europe is supported by pharmaceutical companies, including Western ones.
7.Greeting cards should be given with gifts.
Truth: It all depends on you. There is no such rule.
Myth: Until 20th-century greeting cards were sent only through email. Hallmark’s ad campaign started being given personally as a necessary addition to a gift.
8.Some vegetable oils contain cholesterol and they’re bad
Truth: No vegetable oil contains cholesterol, only butter does.
Myth: Whenever we see something with ‘Does not contain..’ it instantly grabs our attention. And it makes buyers think that they are buying a special premium kind of vegetable oil.
9.The image of Santa Claus was invented by Coca-Cola.
Truth: At the end of the 19th century Thomas Nast was the first artist to define Santa Claus’s modern image.
Myth: In 1931, Coca-Cola launched an advertising campaign to increase the number of soft drinks sales during winter.
10.Eggs and Bacon is a perfect breakfast
Truth: You can eat whatever you want.
Myth: He ordered a study that confirmed that a hearty breakfast is better than a light one. If a breakfast is to be satisfying, there should be more bacon this logic suited the buyers.
